Job description
On behalf of an Italian company operating in the B2B medical sector, part of a structured international industrial group, we are looking for an Operations / Production Manager.
Reporting to the COO of the Group, the role will be responsible for the operational management of a production site that is relatively small in size but characterized by significant technical and managerial complexity.
The environment includes precision mechanical processing, CNC machining, specialist processes, finishing activities, complementary manufacturing technologies, quality, safety and certification requirements. The organization is entering a phase of stronger integration with the Group’s central functions and requires a managerial presence capable of bringing greater method, operational discipline and clarity to processes.
The mission
The role will be responsible for ensuring continuity, reliability and the progressive structuring of the production site, working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain and central functions.
The position has a strong operations and people management focus and therefore requires someone who is sufficiently technical to understand production processes and machining activities, while also bringing strong managerial and organizational capabilities.
The person appointed will also be responsible for coordinating the site’s operational team, consisting of approximately 15 people, with a significant proportion dedicated to production and mechanical processing activities.
Main responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production site;
- managing and coordinating the people within the operations perimeter;
- planning priorities, workloads and production progress;
- supervising precision mechanical processing, CNC machining and complementary production processes;
- ensuring compliance with safety procedures and site operating standards;
- supporting the progressive standardization and greater transparency of production flows;
- collaborating with central functions on quality, certifications, regulatory matters and technical documentation;
- overseeing materials, suppliers, outsourced processing and subcontracting activities;
- addressing operational issues quickly and setting clear priorities;
- developing autonomy and accountability within the team;
- supporting the integration of the site into the Group’s industrial and organizational model.
Candidate profile
We are looking for a manager with experience in technical and specialized manufacturing environments, ideally in one or more of the following areas:
- precision mechanics;
- CNC machining;
- highly specialized technical components;
- medical devices;
- dental manufacturing;
- regulated or certified production environments;
- small-batch production characterized by high precision and strong quality requirements.
Solid experience in people management and production process management is essential, beyond a purely technical or specialist remit.
Particular interest will be given to candidates who have worked in small or medium-sized manufacturing environments, where it is necessary to get directly involved in operational issues, make decisions, set priorities and remain close to the team.
Skills and personal characteristics
The role requires:
- knowledge of key manufacturing and mechanical processing activities;
- ability to understand and organize production flows;
- a strong awareness of workplace safety;
- proven leadership and people management skills;
- operational discipline and execution focus;
- ability to work effectively with more structured central functions;
- a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach;
- credibility and authority in managing people;
- the ability to introduce greater order and discipline without overcomplicating the organization.
We are primarily looking for someone who is present, pragmatic and hands-on, able to identify quickly where intervention is needed and to build a more stable and reliable operating model over time.
Location, Milan Area, Lombardy
The role requires a stable on-site presence.
Employment Level and Compensation Package
The position offers an employment level consistent with responsibilities for operations / production management within a technical and regulated environment.
Indicative salary range: €60,000–90,000 gross annual salary, to be calibrated according to seniority, manufacturing experience, sector background and level of managerial autonomy. Any variable compensation and benefits will be defined during the selection process.
