Sales Director Italy - Food

Job description

Our Customer is a Northern European multinational food company (dairy and preserved products) operating both in the Modern and Traditional/OOH Trade. On their behalf, we are looking for a Sales Director Italy who reports directly to the Country Manager Italy. 

Hierarchic Reporting Line: Country Manager

Direct Reports (hierarchic): 4 Area Managers (with merchandisers) and a team of +30 Agents

Purpose of the Job:

  • Contribute to FC Italy growth and repositioning as branded company, through a strong focus on sales strategy and execution.
  • Guarantee the physical availability of FC products in the POS and develop the penetration and distribution, according to the FC Italy business plan.
  • Represent internationally FC Italy Sales Department.
  • Negotiate successfully with Key clients (buying groups/relative small size of FC Italy vs Key clients…).
  • Follow – up and manage a large sales force (internal + Agents…) with the right level of delegation and control.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare sales strategy and budget per channel, per customer, per product.
  • Propose and implement commercial plan per customer and define guideline.
  • Follow up constantly on Sales figures and related KPIs (volume, NS, GP, mix).
  • Report adequately and frequently to the Management team.
  • Manage sales force and recommend organizational changes when adequate.
  • Develop sales force with adequate skills, training, tools, procedures, and necessary control, in compliance with ethical standards and Antitrust rules.
  • Coordinate internally with the various depts. (Supply Chain, Mktg, Finance..) and European Commercial Head.
  • Participate actively to FC Italy management committee.
  • Monitor competitive activity / initiatives.
  • Represent the subsidiary in professional organizations (Centromarca,…).
  • Attend international sales meetings (price guidelines, ERG etc).
  • Manages and reports on Trade Budgets (including extra budget).
  • Build, lead and motivate the whole sales team.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Economics.
  • 2-3 years spent as National Key Accout or Sales Manager role in FMCG MNC Companies.
  • Trade Mktg/Shopper Mktg background is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of commercial strategy and tactics.
  • Experienced project Management (incl. financial impact).
  • Outstanding commercial & organizational skills to ensure tight deadlines are met both internally and externally.
  • Decision making and decisiveness.
  • Able to work in a start-up environment (stress and uncertainty management).
  • Taking ownership / responsibility and working towards longer goal.
  • People management skills.
  • Business planning & implementation skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage tough negotiation processes.
  • High standard of precision and sense of detail despite the huge amount of information to be treated. Strategic thinking.

Workplace:Not far from Milan, East of Milan, frequent travels all over Italy.
